Why do some contractors give me a price over the phone?

Because they’re guessing. A phone quote is a number designed to keep you interested, not a real cost. It has no basis in actual site conditions, measurements, or material spec.

At Spartan, we don’t quote blindly. Every number comes from a site visit, measured takeoff, and documented scope. You’re not buying a number — you’re buying a result. We earn the price we give you.

Why do quotes vary so much between contractors?

Because most contractors don’t follow a system. Quotes vary 2x–3x on the same job because different contractors include different things. One excludes tile. One forgets demo. One prices labour but not material. One underquotes to win the job and makes it up in change orders later.

Do I need to know exactly what I want before reaching out?

Not at all. Most clients come to us with a rough idea and a problem they want solved. That’s enough. We offer discovery calls specifically to help you get clear on scope, sequencing, and budget before anything is committed.

We’ll educate you on options, show you what’s realistic at different price points, and help you build a vision that’s grounded in what’s actually achievable on your property and timeline.

What if I already have drawings or a designer?

Perfect — we plug in where you are. If you have permit sets, design concepts, or finish selections already locked, we start from there and build the ClearScope™ takeoff from your documents. You don’t restart the process.

We’ve executed against architect drawings, interior designer specifications, and client-supplied concept packages. Send us what you have and we’ll tell you exactly what we need to get started.

Why shouldn’t I just go with the cheapest quote?

Because cheap is almost always the most expensive. Low quotes come from incomplete scope, unskilled or uninsured labour, missing line items, or intentional low-balling. The savings you think you’re getting disappear in change orders, rework, and delays.

At Spartan, risks are flagged in advance during the scoping phase wherever possible. When something unexpected occurs, we document it, present options with pricing, and get your approval before proceeding. You’re never left in the dark and never presented with a bill you didn’t approve.

How does the ClearScope™ takeoff work and how do I get one?

Submit your drawings — floor plans, elevations, any site sketches — through the ClearScope™ intake form. Our estimating team marks up every trade on your drawings, counts every surface, and delivers a complete line-item Excel takeoff with material and labour quantities by room and division.
